Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

I was definitely excited to hear a brick-oven pizza place was coming to Royal Oak. After my first visit, I'll definitely be back, but I wasn't super impressed. Pizza wasn't overly flavorful, but seemed very fresh. The sauce was great, the cheese was fair, and the crust was only so-so. To make things worse, my pizza was slightly overdone. I always feel that it's tough to review a restaurant when they're still in their first week - so I'll edit this review as necessary as I revisit Blaze soon. For now, I'm chalking my first experience up to first-week kinks.

I had a free pizza coupon so I decided to try Blaze for the first time on a frigid winter night. It's basically a Subway for pizza, but in a good way. All of the staff was very friendly. You can make your own pie or choose one of their existing combinations. I decided to make my own rather than get a meat lovers, which for some reason doesn't have Italian sausage on it (not sure why, it boggles the imagination). They have a bunch of different meats, veggies, sauces and cheeses to choose from. The pizza was done in about 5 minutes, and it was pretty tasty. My only complaint was that while the bottom of the thin crust was done pretty nicely with good leoparding on the crust and even some char around the edges, the top wasn't cooked enough. I really should have asked them to put it back in or put it up to the top of the oven to melt and warm things more. Someone else had to have them remake theirs that came out before mine, so I should have known there might be an issue. There was also a lot of moisture coming off the pie, I'm not sure what I picked that could have caused that But for the price, it was pretty good. For quick pizza I like the place on Woodward that shall remain unnamed better, but this is cheaper and easier to get in and out of if you happen to be in R.O.
(4)Cara S.
Love it. Quick and delicious and totally made to order. My new fave place in royal oak. Yep.
(5)Marisa W.
Love their gluten-free pizza! Great selection of toppings too! I will say that it can be very busy and you may wait a little bit. Think I might start asking that they cook my pizza as soon as they can instead of waiting for me to check in (for online orders).

I don't typically care enough to complain about food.. You either eat it or you don't- but in this case, I had such a horrible experience that this is the first review I have ever taken the time to write. The service was TERRIBLE and the pizza was even worse. So I called wanting to make an order, not knowing that I had to order online. Okay fine... No big deal. I order online and 25 mins later, I go to pick up the pizza- and it's not ready. Okay? She could have told me over the phone when I told her ill Order online and come in later, that they won't make the pizza until I get there? So I had to wait another 15 minutes for them to cook my pizza. Which makes absolutely no sense considering I payed for it online when I ordered it. But whatever, I can deal with that if the pizza was worth it. The girl goes to grab the pizza and holds it away from me wanting to hand it to me from about 4 feet away. Uhhhhh? All I'm thinking is what is this girl doing? I walk toward her and she basically just pushes the pizza on me. Again, rude but whatever- IF the pizza was worth it. My pizza was not only burnt (it had NO reason to be burnt considering I was the only person there waiting for the pizza that I ordered almost 45 minutes ago at that point. ) There was cheese on only certain parts of the pizza (toward the middle) and I had ordered chicken and pineapple on it... I probably had 4 little bite size pieces of chicken on it.. And about 1/3 of the pizza had nothing on it, just burnt extremely thin crust and dough. At least they gave me enough pineapple. Had the service been better, I would give them another chance.. But since she was so rude and mean... I only gave them 1 star bc this post wouldn't post without a star. Never again.

I'm giving two starts for the friendly nature of all employees. All were really, sincerely nice and welcoming. First of all, let me say that I absolutely love pizza. I tried this a couple nights ago with a friend. She got the BBQ chix and I got the simple pie. My pizza had a funny smell and the cheese almost seemed fake. The crust is so thin that the cheese wasn't proportionate to the pie...wayyyyy too much. The BBQ chix was ok, but gorgonzola cheese? Really? Overall, I would rather go to a couple other of the pizza joints in RO than go back here. I like the concept, but the execution just isn't there for me.
(2)Mary B.
Fast, cheap, and customizable. I dig it. I had a pizza with a bunch of veggies on it and also had a five dollar off coupon. It reminds me of subway. I will be back!
(4)Nicole C.
I love the thin crust and all the great toppings provided! I especially love the spicy red sauce. At $7/pizza, you can't go wrong!
(5)Indian K.
Great pizza, great variety, great taste. 4 stars only bc It is a little pricey for the amount you get considering you can get a medium size pizza from the chain restaurants for 5 bucks these days that is way more filling. However, i would pay the money once in awhile because their pizzas are pretty darn good. Love the whole concept of thin crust and build your own!
(4)Megan R.
Thought it was great! What a good idea fast fresh pizza with unlimited toppings for $6.95. Thin crust is my fave, it was thin and crispy like it should be. I would defiantly go back. Only complaint is they need to add breadsticks, a pizza is a little small to split for 2 for dinner, an order if bread sticks would have made it perfect.
(5)Enrique B.
I LOVE this place. I always build my own, and having gorgonzola on your zza changes a person. It's fast and delicious. Oh, cheap too.
(5)Greg M.
Ordered two pizzas online, they claim it's supposed to be even faster then ordering at the restaurant. Order went in at 7:15 for 7:35 pick up. Guess what, they didn't even start on the order when I went to pick it up, at 7:38. People that were ordering in front of me got their pizza first before me. On top of all that half the staff were standing around doing nothing and complaining about their boss in front of customers. Pizza was okey, Crispellis is so much more tastier. Oh yeah and they made my pizza wrong! Never coming back :(
(2)Ken M.
We went here for the opening free pizza day and waited in the long line but it was worth it. I was not expecting much quality with all the pies they were making, but it was great! I had the spicy sauce (which was spicy), bacon, sausage, pepperoni, onions, and mushrooms- so good. My wife had a gluten free vegan and thought it was tasty too. I suppose you could get better "value" as far as a large $5 grab and go pizza, but I'll wait the 3 minutes for something much tastier but smaller.
(5)heather t.
Average!!!! Yes, the veggies were fresh but I was not impressed with the sauce or the bread. You pay for what you get.
(3)Thomas B.
This place is great! You can build your own pizza or order one off the munu like the bbq chicken pizza. The crust was thin and crisp, the spicy red sauce is fantastic, the cheese is tasty, but not greasy, and all the toppings are fresh. It was busy, but they get people through the line at a good pace. The pizza's cook fast. Grear place for the price!
(5)Pete D.
While I love the one price pizza gig and the quick service and short cook time. The topping options are HUGE! But like the one guy Mark D. said his post "it's like Subway for Pizza". NOT what I want. I what a pizza that makes your crave more. Ok like with tangy sauce, tasty crust and lots of topping for your money. Blaze is not my idea of great pizza. Cheap fast yea. I would rather pay a little more and get the whole pie the real deal the great taste of Detroit Pizza. Like the pizzas from Green Lantern or Square at Cloverleaf this is Detroit pizza the pie I love. Pizza Pizza Pizza that what I want all the time every day. I guess you can say I'm hooked.
(3)Mark D.
Blaze is one of those places that I wish I didn't love as much as I do. Because I get it way too often. The best way to think of it is as a Subway for thin crust pizza. For around $7 you can build your own pizza with any toppings you want to. Dirt cheap and you never leave hungry. They have great hours and are open late during the week. Maybe the best part about blaze is their 4am closing time which allows drunk food possibilities. The line can get very very long however, so be prepared to wait. The only negative I have encountered about this place is the employees occasionally screwing up my order immediately after I told them what to put on my pizza. Not a big deal, but it has happened more than once. Overall: If you are in a hurry to get some good thin crust pizza built your way this is where you want to go.
(5)Alyson H.
I'm a fan, but orderer beware of toppings. I ordered the white top pizza no bacon and light sauce which was delicious, but the other 2 people I was with ordered the red vine with spicy sauce (which had too much sauce) and the build your own (which was piled high with way too many toppings). Make sure to order light toppings! Love that they have outdoor seating. A beautiful summer day in MI made better with pizza.
(3)Ryan K.
Mediocre tasting pizza was easily overwhelmed by poor management if customer's orders. Cleanliness and organization is not a priority of the staff as boxes and pizza pans were falling over. Most of the toppings were mixed with other toppings due to mishandling. One worker was listening to music on her headphones while customers were telling her their order. A trainee went straight from sweeping the back room to boxing pizzas without washing hands.
(2)Anna H.
My friends recommended this place and I'm glad I gave it a try. I'm not a big fan of pizzas, but this place doesn't disappoint! I love the fact that there's a build your own pizza option. For one price, you can have any toppings you want... Yass! There is no charge for extra toppings, you can have it however you like! If you don't want to make your own pizza, there are signature pizzas you can order from. Also, the pizza cooks in just 180 seconds! Quick and delicious! Plus,I love that Blaze stay opens late.
(4)Melissa L.
Convenient location, easy online ordering, quick service, cheap, delicious pizza. If any of those words appeal to you, this is the place to go for a quick fix. Is this your new pizza destination place? I would say no. Supino's and Crispelli's are still the top in my opinion. But, if you are eating for one and love to build your own pizza, you should definitely check it out. For $7.25, you get unlimited toppings on your pizza. But, be forewarned. The more toppings you put on it, the pizza is likely to get soggy from them, but I don't mind. The toppings are all great in my opinion (artichoke, basil, peppers, mushrooms, Italian sausage, pineapple (from a can but still fine), but I would not recommend the roasted garlic unless you like crunchy raw garlic. I thought it would be melt in your mouth roasted garlic that spreads like butter. It is not. Also, make sure your pizza is not burnt! I have been here three times and the bottom was very burnt one time. This place gets pretty busy especially around lunch time, so order online. You do need to wait a few minutes for them to freshly fire the pizza, but still beats the line. Definitely worth a try!
(4)Melissa B.
So this is why I'm giving them 3 stars.... This was my first time here... My pizza was made to order everything was what I wanted on it.... It came out of the oven quick which I appreciated because I was hungry.... However.... The floors had some many ingredients on it... The work stations looked to not have been wiped down all day.... I asked the guy if they were busy today he said oh no not really.... They way this place was looking you would have thought they were slammed from the time they opened.... good pizza but the staff workers should focus more on cleaning

I really really love the options and prices in this place but I'm writing this so the owners will see. We come here often after moving to town and missing the one out in Novi. The problem we have is the fact that this store seems to be run/managed by a collection of teenagers who don't seem to be in any particular hurry. If today was the first time coming to this establishment then I would have left by now. We've been in line for about 10 minutes and haven't moved and there are still 10 people ahead of us and only one poor girl making the pizzas alone. These kids really need a bit of get-up-and-go. They're acting like no one is in line and there's no rush. If we continue to get served with this level of enthusiasm (or lack of) we will return to novi. Update: 20 mins later still waiting for food. The guy who looks like Jamie Fox is the only one who seems to work fast. Raise for him.
(2)Leisa S.
This place is awesome !!! It's like subway for pizza. For fast and well executed. My boyfriend and I came in for the first time today and was amazed. The staff is extremely friendly and have great customer service skills. My boyfriend jumped back in line to pay for cups for beverages using his AMEX and the young man working behind the counter offered the cup as a courtesy. First time that this has ever happened to him. We will now be life time customers for the great experience that we received! And did I mention that the pizza was SO GOOD? We will be life time patrons. Great addition to the Royal oak area

I feel like I, sadly, need to update this review. i really enjoy blaze pizza. I really do. Good prices. Fresh vegetables. etc etc. But the last few times (actually more than a few-probably close to 5) I have been there the service has been HORRIBLE. Orders totally wrong (like leaving sauce off pizza), bad attitude (I am looking at your pizza oven guy that was on his cell phone the whole time), orders placed ahead of time that are NEVER ready to be cooked when you walk in, the list goes on. It makes me sad - because like I said I do like their Pizza - but I have a very limited time for lunch and I know if I am going to pick up a pizza at this location I have to commit a good amount of time due to the lackluster service. Its almost a joke now - when my coworkers see me with a blaze pizza box they ask "what went wrong this time". There was a super nice manager that was always in the store when they first opened. You never really see him anymore - maybe management is the problem? I don't know but it needs to be fixed. People are generally pretty pissed when they are waiting for their pizza because something tends to be going wrong.

Just plowed through my first dinner at Blaze and I'm still basking in the afterglow of their unique thin crust that left me feeling full but not fat. As a customer, you're in full control of your destiny here as they lace your pizza right in front of your face with dozens of toppings, cheeses and sauces to choose from. So if your pizza sucks, you suck at ordering as well as life. Despite what the reviews say, this is not the best pizza around or even Royal Oak for that matter but it is a tremendous deal at $7.25 because you can add as many toppings as you want. You read that correctly. Theoretically, you could have them put 47 different toppings on your pizza for the same price that a two topping would cost. Combine that with how quickly the wood stoves bake your creation and you have a pizzeria that changes the game. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the crust because it wasn't flavorful or substantial in texture. Regardless, I was pleased with the quality and freshness of the toppings. My grilled chicken, italian sausage, bacon and garlic selections formed a sensual bond with the spicy marinara and they laid together in the same bed to form a fantastic orgy with the parmesan and mozzarella cheese that showed up as a couple. The fontography throughout the interior was eye catching and the overall design, open environment and array of seating options added to the experience. Dining here was a joy and the setting is perfect whether you're by yourself or with a group. They also have a patio. Of note was Karl who cooked my pizza and was friendly, patient and very outgoing with a wonderful attitude. I also had a great conversation with one of the staff members who was dutifully cleaning around my tables so a huge thumbs up to the staff at Blaze Royal Oak. They keep it clean, fast and fresh and for that they deserve my repeat business.
(3)Marygrace A.
A build your own pizza joint with no maximum on the toppings! This place is amazing - feel free to pile up meats and veggies on your pizza, and don't forget about the spinach and pesto after it has been fast fired! The staff is friendly, the pizzas are shareable, and I am definitely returning.

My favorite pizza place in the Metro Detroit area (aside from Buddy's.) Seriously. Do not complete your order online for Jets, Hungry Howie's, Domino's, etc. Get in your car and drive however long it takes to Blaze Pizza (which for me is about 35 minutes) Blaze Pizza is a "fast food" style pizza chain. For $7 you can get your own pizza built just the way you want. Want spicy sauce? You got it. Want 7 different kinds of vegetables and toppings? You got it. Want a handful of meats on your pizza? You got it. Did I mention that you don't have to pay extra for all the fresh toppings? What a steal. They also have gluten free crust options as well. In just a few minutes you'll have your very own thin crust pizza, made just the way you like it. Not too burnt. Made just right in their oven. My recommendation is the BBQ Chicken pizza. You will not regret it if you give it a try! Makes me hungry just thinking about it. The ambience is casual, with a hipster setting as well. Employees are always helpful and engaging with customers or helping to tidy up the place. While there are plenty of indoor seats, keep in mind that the place does get pretty packed during the weekend. Especially once the downtown bars are closing. Come here and enjoy one of the best pizzas you'll ever have! Free wifi as well!

My first visit to Blaze (5/5/15 at 11:30 am) will be my last. Why? (1) Terrible service. The woman (petite, slender) who assembled my pizza was incredibly surly. Several employees stood around looking at their phones while I waited more than five minutes to pay. Then more waiting, and even though I was the only customer in line, MY PIZZA COOLED WHILE I WAS WAITING TO PAY. I asked the nearest worker if I could pay, he looked my way, said nothing and then walked away. Throughout this whole time, no one made eye contact, no one said 'thank you.' Just employees standing around, laughing and texting. Customers who came in after me were flat-out ignored. (2) Food safety problems. The person who handled my money then went back to touching food without changing his gloves. A big no-no. Both guys who were manning the oven rested the pizza peels on the floor. Really gross. (3) The taste was nothing special. You'll get a far better pie at Crispelli or Bigalora, and infinitely better service. Blaze management: have you noticed that all of the weak reviews on Yelp mention horrible customer service?! Have you noticed that I'm not the first reviewer to mention food safety/hygiene problems?
(1)Blaise B.
MAN this is a good pizza. I love being able to customize my pizza without being charged per topping, because I prefer to order small amounts of a bunch of different toppings. ALSO: Get a smore. Seriously. They make smores with graham cracker cookies and put them on the edge of the oven to heat them up. They are mind-blowing smores. The service can be a little lacking, but the food more than makes up for it, IMO.
(5)Evie B.
Midnight after party meal - great staff who tolerated our group and our celebratory mood. Made to order pizza. Yummy , fresh and fair price.
(4)Frank B.
I want to give less stars but I have to take some responsibility for my pizza. I did a build my own. I made it the same as I have in the past at the Novi Blaze. It was always really good there. Here in Royal Oak the creator of the pizza put a comical amount of olives on it. I should have asked him to hit the breaks on Olive Express but I thought maybe they will shrink or something. I dont know, I know very little about the construction of pizza and left it in the hands of a professional pizza engineer. Turns out we were both wrong because the pizza was pretty bad. It was ok after I scraped off half the olives. I attached a pic of it. I think the pic even understates how many olives there are. I will go again and ask to go light on everything.
(3)Mei F.
meh..pizza and the idea is incredible! but your food and experience depends on what staff shift are you dealing with at this particular time. I had wonderful service, as well as very bad service. Preparation girls having attitude and missing toppings. Oven guys screwing around and sitting on tinder while my pizza is getting burned black. They did another one but missed ingredients. For the price i still recommend that you give it a shot
(3)Rena S.
I try to avoid chains, but honestly they have great pizza! You walk up to the counter when you get in an start with your crust (regular or gluten free) then add your choice of sauces (red, alfredo, spicy, oil, none) then you go to add your cheeses, meats, and other toppings. All of their pizzas are under $7. You get a thin crust 11" pizza, which is perfect for one person. The crust is perfectly flaky and thin, with good flavor. The sauce has a little zing, but isn't too spicy. They have great ingredients. Plus when they say fast fired, they mean it. They cook it in a large pizza oven right in front of you in under 5 min. I would definitely suggest this! We also get pizza here for a lot of meetings, it's nice because you can order online, they have the pizzas all ready to cook right when you get there. You just walk up to the counter (skipping the line) and let them know you are there for your pick up, they cook it for you quickly, and send you on your way!
(5)Jasmine G.
I created my own pizza this time. Cream sauce, feta, chicken, sautéed onions, and artichoke!! It was great and baked to perfection.
(4)Doug Z.
Price is good, food is really good, hard to complain about anything...
(5)Mark C.
Really can't go wrong for freshly made individual pizzas at a decent price ... Especially in this town of overpriced everything
(4)Ian F.
I love blaze. I've been to this location and the Novi one countless times. However, while the pizza is still top notch, the caliber of employees at the Royal oak location leave much to be desired. Everyone works as if they're just waiting for the sweet release of death. No motivation whatsoever. Again, love the pizza! I just wish they would move a little bit faster than slugs. And maybe crack a smile from time to time. I really miss Novi and how it seemed like everyone enjoyed their lives. Hey management/owner: time to turn over the Royal oak location and get some employees who work.
(2)Will B.
Sean K is a moron, flat out. This place doesn't compare to Little Caesars in terms of quality, it's far better. And to the extent he complains about price, Blaze is actually cheaper for their pizza, as long as you like toppings. They charge a flat price for your pizza, regardless as to how many toppings you put on it. If you just get pepperoni on your pizza, and want more, you're an idiot. If you only want pepperoni and want to pay a cheaper price, fine, go somewhere else, but don't compare this place to the dump that serves over-processed plastic cheese, and cardboard. The people that complain that Blaze is skimpy on their toppings, just ask for more. They've never objected when I asked for "extra" meatballs, or bacon, or anything else. My pizza was effectively topped the way I wanted it, and it turned out great. Their crust and sauce is good and flavorful. The pizza has a good mix of crisp edges and gooey goodness in the middle. I get whole cloves of roasted garlic on mine, which are delicious, plus a whole host of other toppings. I will say that their customer service is somewhat lacking. The person that I ordered through was socializing with someone else when I walked in, it took her a while to take my order, they goofed around when they started making my pizza, and it was one person making all of the pizzas, adding all of the toppings, and placing it in the oven, and ringing everyone up. It wasn't a fast process, and they did them one at a time, instead of in batches. It would be nice if that was cleaned up a bit. Management could be better, but other than that, I enjoyed my experience here.
(4)Adele M.
My friend and I came here on a Friday night and they were pretty busy it seemed. Pizza was alright but the service was not good. Most of the workers looked like they hated being there. The person cooking the pizza was also the cashier and was not wearing gloves so I thought that was gross. The floors and counters where the employees are was very dirty and looked like it hadn't been wiped down or cleaned all night. All in all it is a good deal. 7.25 for a personal pizza with as many toppings as you want but the cleanliness makes you not want to go back. I will try the location in novi and see if it's a better experience.
(2)Arba M.
Blaze is a great place to come when you want something fast and tasty. I love that you can custom make your own pizza to your liking. It's cheap and you get a really good sized pizza for the price...$7. Can't beat it! Definitely try it out :)
(4)Liz P.
Went here for a blogger event tonight, I had been to the Novi location but not this one. The pizza was FANTASTIC, as usual, and the staff was super nice. I did a "make your own" pizza and got the "fancy" mozzarella (ovalina?), regular mozzarella, red sauce, pepperoni, Italian sausage, garlic, basil, and mushrooms. Delicious. We also were provided with a free salad, drink, and the s'more bar, which was right out of the oven and also fantastic. Chef Jeff whipped up a s'mores/nutella pizza for our group too! Not on the menu, sadly, but I'm hoping they add it at some point - it was delicious. I'll definitely be back to this location again sometime soon.
(5)Lukus T.
$5 for a super yum New York style plain? $7.25 to add whatever you want to it? yesyesyes. I'm not going to belabor this review. if you want pizza, and you're in Royal oak, you need to be here. period
(5)Katherine S.
This place is great! I'm a HUGE pizza lover, and this place meets my standards. I have been to this place twice. The first visit was much better than the second which is why I didn't give it five stars. We shall get to that later. The price is phenomenal! And the options to put on the pizza? Even better! Any place with the option of goat cheese has me locked in! Nomz :) So the first time there, the employees were so nice and helpful and very patient with my overloaded pizza order. She put a good amount of each topping too. Oh yeah, and don't forget your s'more pie for dessert! So the reason it lost a star: the second time I came after a night out with a friend and was RAVING about how great it is. We shared a pizza and the employee (different from the first visit) literally put 5 pepperoni's on the whole pizza and basically no cheese. Bummer :( Still a place I'll recommend and go to again.
(4)Amanda S.
Love the food and ingredients! The staff is always friendly and provide great service every time I'm there. For example, the guy last night gave my friend a free pizza for her birthday on him.
(5)Anomid V.
I love this place so much! The pizza is made fast and tastes great and is very light. So it doesn't make you feel heavy with saturated fat. The price is affordable and the servers are extremely nice. I have tried the Veg out, the red vine and the art lover all which have left me coming back for more. I definitely recommend this pizza joint relative to it's price and quality. Although I have never had pizza there before 9pm so I can't speak for the lunch menu.
(5)Dawn N.
Ah-mazing. Make your own pizza ! WHAT? Don't mind if I do ! And s'more cookies Good idea. The staff is incredible.
(5)Kyleen C.
I went back yesterday and had the manger make my pizza I think his name started with a w but he's seriously the best at making pizza and just a really good person he makes coming there more fun!
(5)Jay V.
Fantastic pizzas. Service is fast and good. Thin crust pizzas with olive oil are amazing. Their sauce tastes very good. They are open late which is a plus for me. I have ordered a few times, and food quality always met my expectations. Will definitely keep going back.
(4)Gabrielle N.
Order the simple cheese, it was awesome. It's like chipotle for pizza will be back again!
(4)Mike D.
I have a gluten sensitivity and they advertise gluten free so i tried it. Well i had to argue with the staff to get a gluten free crust after they said they wouldn't do it for me, was about to walk out and they called out to me. The dough didn't look like gluten free at all and long story short i am regretting eating there and will likely not be back. Will gladly pay the extra $6 and travel the extra time for a pizza at Renne's over this. My girlfriend noticed that it was also pressed on the same machine as her pizza (which was not gluten free).
(1)Michael W.
Love all the options, it's like the subway of pizza best around!!! That Crust is to die for and all their ingredients are so fresh and with that 6.99 build your own price forget about it

3.5-4 stars. It's solid fast food pizza. It's not a sit down and enjoy a long dinner kind of place. Super quick build your own (Chipotle-style walk-through line) thin crust pizza. Tastes pretty damned good too. You really need your own pizza if you're hungry though. Open til 3:30 am on the weekend for post bar eats.

A few months ago, I ordered a gluten free pizza with bbq sauce drizzle, vegan cheese, and assorted veggies. My friend got double crust cheese and pepperoni with jalepeños. She would return, but I would not. Before I even ate I noticed 2 issues: a teenage male in charge of the oven goofed off and swore, and in the meantime burnt the crust on my pizza. Also, the wait was double what they said it would be. I've had over 5 gluten free pizzas, from gourmet pizzerias to Whole Foods' frozen section. This was the worst. They skimped hardcore on the vegan cheese as well. If you're looking for adequate gluten free/dairy pizza, I recommend another place like Buddy's pizza or Renee's Gourmet Pizza. However, if you like a subway/chipotle style way of ordering food and are not gluten free, then I recommend the double crust. Blaze Pizza did not meet my expectations.

So you know when you say that even bad pizza is still good because its pizza. That applies to blaze. Its what you eat when you wander around royal oak and there isn't much else open. So you must be thinking, Candice you are such a jerk, you probably just made a crappy pizza yourself. Well granted I did basically put a salad on pizza (mushrooms, onions, garlic, basil, spinach, peppers, fresh moz and sauce.) You can see the picture below. So the thing is, I always load up my pizza veggies and they still come out really good (sometimes a little watery, but still good). My conclusion: its all about the crust. Their crust is so thin, that its more like eating sauce, very little cheese and veggies. It is definitely nothing I would crave. It costs about $7 to make your own.

Fast, friendly service from a young, courteous and skilled staff...and the tailor made pizzas are excellent. If mine isn't I have only myself to blame! LOL!
(5)Julian B.
Got a one topper carryout to do a purity test.. Mozz. Pepperoni. I enjoyed it. Will be back. Better than Supino which has regressed. My top thin is still Tomatoes but this is solid. Cool to go box. Good price. Negative is only one size. The pizza is similar to Crispellis. Not sure who is better yet. Need to try a couple more times. The blood oranges lemonade was tasty. Asked. Was a mix not fresh but tasty nevertheless.

I come to a restaurant for the experience and the customer service was awful. Neither my boyfriend or me could understand what either first or second girl was telling us when ordering. Dictate your words; most customers don't know Ebonics. The ingredients were added very sparingly. The pizzas are suppose to be flash fired in 90 seconds but the customers after us received their larger order first. The pizza was good but I won't be back.
(2)Crystal W.
This place is perfect for the whole family. Even the picky child will love it because everyone can design their very own pizza. I loved the wood burning oven that makes the pizza super quick. I would definitely recommend this place. I went during lunch so it wasn't busy. I'm not sure how busy it is in the evenings and weekends. I hope to visit soon again because there honestly is something for everyone.
(5)Jim D.
I am officially a fan. I was pleasantly surprised with my first visit to this chain at the downtown Royal Oak location. Reminds me of a Subway restaurant for pizza. I think you will definitely start seeing more Blaze restaurants popping up all over the place in the near future.
(4)Chinmay A.
This is my new favorite pizza place. As a lifetime pizza lover who has twice almost died from eating too much pizza, this should be taken as a pretty high recommendation. What makes this place special is the customer experience. Their online service is simple, fast and efficient. The ambiance in the pizza place is simple and elegant, optimized for the greatest pizza experience. The prices of the pizza are unbelievable and the quality of the pizza is just amazing. I love that the servers are always in a good mood and seem like they love their job. I've had a great experience every time I've been here. Looking forward to the next time.
(5)Christina S.
Great prices on pizza and super casual atmosphere. Sort of like a Subway sandwich shop but with pizza. There is a small variety of ready-made salads for those wanting something lighter than pizza.
(4)Mitch B.
This place is great-fast service, helpful and knowlegeable staff, fresh ingredients, and delicious pizza. My wife and I tried it for the first time for date night on a Saturday. We were blown away with the enthusiasm and friendliness of the employees. I had the Meat Eater pizza, she had the Vegetarian pizza, and we both had side salads. My pizza was delicious-the toppings were fresh and there were plenty of them. The toppings on my wife's pizza were fresh as well, but I don't think she got as many toppings as I did. The pizza sauce was outstanding. Our salads were mediocre at best-the ingredients were fresh, but the lettuce was barely green. But, for a $7.25 personal pizza, this place is hard to beat. After being disappointed with the crappy over-priced food of Bastone in Royal Oak earlier in the week, this was a refreshingly good restaurant experience.
(4)Sean K.
I have to say first of all, I'm confused by all the rave reviews this place is getting, most of which quickly make a big deal about getting to customize your pizza when you order it. I don't know where these people are ordering pizzas, but everywhere I go you pick your toppings on the pizza. How is that a big deal? The size is good for one person, this is a good place to go if you have people who don't love the same toppings. But it's not a deal. I got a small pepperoni for over $8, Little Caesars aside, I can get WAAAY more pizza at other pizza places for under $10, and have leftovers. This place is cheaper than California Pizza Kitchen, that's about it. I enjoyed the pizza I ordered, though I was put off by all the crust sitting out on a rack and watching a fly dance all over it. This place is basically like Subway for pizza. It's good, it's not expensive. But it's nothing to rave about. I feel like people in Royal Oak are being deprived of real pizza if this is what they're celebrating. Also, the superfluous apostrophe in their name really bothers me.
(3)Felicity F.
We love Blaze! The food is consistently great. It is fresh, delicious and affordable. Our favorite thing about Blaze Royal Oak though is the staff. The employees are just fantastic. They are always talkative and nice. We get nothing but the best service every single time we go. I took my son tonight and the young lady that helped us said something that had him smiling from ear to ear the whole way home. The food sold us and the service keeps us! Keep it up guys!
(5)T S.
Fast service model, like Chipotle, that allows you to easilt customize your pizza. The best part is no limitations on number of toppings. Good option if you like thin crust pizza. Beware, the lemonade is extra sweet.
(3)Jonathan L.
Blaze is a great pizza place, and I would highly recommend that if you really want it, go to the Novi location. Since opening, the workers here have completely gone downhill. The last three times I've been here, I've waited in line 45 minutes mainly because they only have one, grumpy, uncaring person manning the assembly area and cash register and one at the oven. I've also seen a third back there that doesn't appear to want to help out. And this is at prime dinner times from 6-7 PM. I've been to two other Blaze Pizzas. One is Pasadena, California and the other is Novi, Mi. I've seen how a good Blaze is supposed to work from these two locations. This one is NOT a good Blaze Pizza.
(1)Zak B.
The subway of pizza. The craving satisfaction of Cold stone. The delicious variety of chipotle. Blaze is perfect for the families (and friends) that are picky about their pizza. An individual pizza that is the perfect size to finish in one sitting. The best part is that it doesn't take that long to cook the pizzas. Maybe about 5min. The spicy marinara is delicious. The atmosphere of the place is relaxing. A little dark. Probably to set the mood for pizza eating. The pricing is fair. It is actually the same as a subway or chipotle. The only con I would say is that the crust can be a bit chewy. Other than that, I will definitely return!
(5)Michael E.
I was doubtful. I mean, I've never really had a real Neapolitan pizza in the Detroit area. We're known for "deep dish" pizza here, and while it's better than the garbage they serve in Chicago, it's still not the pizza I knew from my youth. So I was doubtful. Buit you know, I came away impressed. I ordered one of their standard pizzas, the "Red Vine," which comes with ovalini mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, parmesan, basil, not too much red sauce, and an olive oil drizzle. It was... very good. The crust was thin and crispy, like a real pizza crust should be. For my second visit I ordered on line, and the pizza was ready to be fired as soon as I showed up. This time, though, they got the ingredients wrong, and it was way too wet- sloppy instead of crispy. My third visit, I went with the Red Vine again, and once more it was very good. So while this isn't great pizza, it's way better than anything the chains are offering and much better than any of the independents out there. If you do go, a few suggestions: 1. Don't overload your pizza with stuff. Keep it simple. I know, the temptation is there, when you can have all the ingredients you want, but trust me, simpler is better. 2. Stick with the ovalini mozzarella. It's much tastier than the rubbery ground stuff that shows up on most pizzas as a sea of sticky goo. 3. Go for the red sauce, and get fresh basil leaves and oregano. That's what a pizza is supposed to taste like. Now if only they'd offer anchovies...
(4)Eowyn K.
This style of eatery seems to be popping up everywhere. The higher-quality, reasonably priced, made to order, semi-fast food. Blaze is the latest pizza version. You start with a 11" thin crust pizza (they only have one size but do have a gluten free option), then pick your sauce (alfredo, red, spicy red, oil, they also have pesto) then toppings. Every pizza is under $7. Part of the appeal is you can choose any number of toppings and the price is the same. The guy in front of us in line had so many toppings the crust was barley visible. Then they quickly fire it in the oven. The thin crust was crispy and was an overall tasty pizza. They have salads as well and toasted marshmallow desert, neither of which we tried. We did have the blood orange lemonade (there is also regular) which was tart and pretty good for a mix. We were here on a Saturday night and while the place was fairly busy, there just were not enough staff. The line moved slowly as a result. I can imagine it could go fairly quickly with another person or two on the line. Many of the tables had not been wiped down either. The staff that they did have were friendly despite being constantly busy so I do not put the blame on them. Overall, good food, but could use some improvements.
(4)Naveen N.
They allow you to customize your pizza. However the pizzas very small and overall did not taste very good. Staff is friendly and pizzas are made quickly
(3)Paul A.
Great tasting pizza! Nice thin tasty dough, fresh products, and great concept. For one price you get to pick any toppings you want. From 3 different types of sauce, different cheeses, then a assortment of different meats, and fresh veggies plus more. Then it goes in a really hot oven and in like 3 minutes your pizza is ready. The pizza always taste great. The dough is crispy and tasty. They use high quality products and you can tell in the overall flavor of the pizza. I think the quality of pizza is worth the price all day. The reason why I deducted 1 star off this review, is because of service. I have been here 3 time and every time the employees were either average or below average. They never smile, lack enthusiasm, lack positive energy, bad customer skills, act as if they do not want to wait on you or be at work. The list can keep going, but you get the idea. If the service picked up this would be a 5 star review. This place is in bad need of a good manager.
(4)Zainab S.
I came here for a late dinner with a friend after a long work day. The service was good and the price is very reasonable. I got the build your own personal pizza for $6.95 with a ton of toppings both vegetarian and non-veg. I was definitely full at the end of the meal and still had some left over for lunch the next day. We both got s'mores after our meals as well which were great. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!
(5)A. N.
This place is fantastic. Think of it as a chipotle/subway style pizza place. You pick your sauce, cheese and toppings. Lots of options for vegans and GF. LOVE LOVE the guy who offered to change his gloves without me asking when I asked for vegan cheese. It's the little things! Lemonade was tart but very sweet. If you don't like your pizza, blame yourself! Fresh toppings, lots of options, fast wood char. Chill out talking about deep dish guys. It's summer, you don't need the carbs!
(5)Ebby M.
One word...excellent. This place is genius. You get to build your own thin crust pizza for only $7.95. One pizza can easily feed two or three people. The ingredients are always fresh, and best of all you literally watch the staff prepare and bake your pizza. Super fast and very delicious. My kids and I can't get enough of this place. No more hot n readys for us.
(4)Jennifer B.
LOVE this place. I am usually not a fan of thin crust pizza but the flavor on these is fantastic. The crust is crispy and the ingredients were fresh. Each pizza is big enough for one person. I went with one other person and we split two different kinds of pizza since we couldn't decide what to try, both were delicious. They have a GREAT patio and an area that's sort of inside, sort of outside which was awesome for the day we went because it was raining buckets and the tornado sirens were going off! Friendly staff and a clean restaurant. I will be back!
(4)Alice C.
Great food at a great price! At 6.95 for a pizza, this is a pretty good deal. We came in on a Saturday for lunch and it wasn't too busy. The girls making the pizza were very friendly and walked us through the menu. I love how you can start with the specialties and if you see something else you like, just tell them to add it. I started out with the vege out pizza. Along the row of toppings, italian sausage and roasted red peppers caught my eye. I have to say, I was quite happy with my creation! My friend who isnt a vege fan picked off a piece of the sausage and love it too. They have a big array of toppings ranging from the basic pepperoni to roasted garlic and sauteed onions. The pizza was good and a nice portion size, I had half and had half to take home. Crust was crispy and chewy. Overall, great additional to the RO scene and I can already imagine the craziness that this place would be at 2 a.m. in the morning!
(5)Jon L.
This place is awesome! Pizza in 4 minutes? Any topping(s) for less than $7? Yes please. It's quick and simple and just plain delicious. Plus they've got a gluten free option as well!
(5)Katelund D.
Like this place a lot me and my boyfriend go here all of the time. The service is quick but they are a bunch of stifflers when it comes to the amount of toppings you can put on your own pizza. You don't really feel welcome though either. You are just another order here.
(4)Stephanie H.
This is one of my favorite lunch spots. A personal, thin crust, custom pizza for under $10? You can't find that anywhere else. Build your own pizza to your exact liking. I tend to get sauceless, with mozzarella and Parmesan, then whatever meat and veggies I'm feeling that day. Never fails, pizza is always delicious!
(5)Felicia R.
This place is great! I'm vegan and sometimes it's tough finding food I really love. I love whatever vegan cheese they use (it's $1 extra) and all the veggies were fresh. Staff was friendly and chatted with me during my visit. I'll be coming here frequently :)
(4)Amanda G.
The Saturday night crew is awesome! Definitely one of the most enjoyable pizza places to be at just because of the employees. I left with a huge smile and a happy belly! Good work guys
(5)Erin L.
On my first visit, I got the "Red Vine" pizza. It was delicious! The 11 inch portion is perfect for one person and the thin crust is excellent. I loved the red sauce, fresh basil & arugula, and fancy mozzarella. My boyfriend loved getting to create his own custom pizza and throw as many toppings as he wanted on for just $6.95. I really want to give this place 5 stars because I come here so frequently and the pizza is delicious. Unfortunately, the service is awful. I would love to see more care and attention to detail when the servers are making my pizza. It still tastes good, but the presentation and balance of ingredients is missing.

fast. cheap. tasty. plus outdoor seating.

Its been a really long time since I've been granted the perks of being a Yelper. Just when I was ready to throw in the towel, I get a message from Blaze corporate asking if I'd mind some free pizza passes to try the place out. Stopped in tonight. I was greeted by Whitney, and I was shocked at how friendly and helpful she was. All with a smile...Doesn't happen much these days. I let her order for me and she chose a BBQ chicken pizza, and as I went down the line, I swear it has to be drugs or the air or something because everyone was beyond friendly. "Do you have enough toppings?" , "Would you like anything else on your pizza?" , and "Have a great day"......Shocked the hell out of me. Since I had a free pizza, I asked if I could tip (I know! no please don't tip us sir). I waited a few minutes and was called for my pizza. The guy asked if my pizza was too dark. If so, he'd gladly make a new one....Friendly service from start to end? Could it be? Decent people? Wow!!!!!! I was fine with what was in front of me. The pizza was good. Love thin crust with a bit of char. Based on service, price point, and a pretty good pizza I'd be happy to be a regular.
(4)Marvin T.
Awesome. It's like the Chipotle of pizza. Roasted garlic, bbq sauce, pineapple and pretty much anything else you would want on a pizza. The gluten free pizza there is really good as well, and only costs just a bit more ($1? Can't remember). And you get the a nice show of the guys turning your pizza so it doesn't burn. I can't help but recommend this place if you have a gluten allergy and want a quick, inexpensive dinner with the family.
(5)Alexandra K.
I am so impressed with Blaze! I had received two free pizza coupons to try them out so I went a couple weeks ago. Since it had just opened you would maybe expect them to still be trying to get the kinks out but that is not the case with Blaze. The entire staff was so friendly. The two pizzas we tried - the vegetable and the bbq chicken - were awesome! We did not have to wait long at all to get the pizzas either. One of the greatest things is that the price for the pizzas is extremely reasonable and they are open until 3AM. I can't wait to go back and try a different kind!
(5)Licia D.
First time won't be the last though! The staff cool as Sh!t! The one with the dreads is cute lmao probably thought I was on a date though NOT!! Catching up with the homie over good pizza and s'mores pie!! They'll be seeing more of lil ol me!
(5)Miranda W.
Free pizza day! Staff is super friendly, like unbelievable. Awesome fire oven makes tasty pizza! Create your own for one flat price! Has vegan cheese and nice grilled chicken. I love this place I'm coming back again.
(5)Ann B.
Three stars because there is some potential and the price is great. However I ordered online expecting to show up and pick up my pizza not to wait and watch my pizza being made. My pizza seemed to lack cheese, which was a bit disappointing. Service is not great. It's like the chipotle of pizza. For 6 bucks it's worthy of 3 stars.
(3)S S.
90% of the time I am dining with my sons and/or nieces, five kids with an age range of 2-15. This calls for quick, inexpensive, casual dining, and involves a lot of burgers and pizza, but I dislike fast food, and I have sworn off pizza buffets forever and ever for eternity. We stopped here for lunch today, and though my kids were the only kids there on a day when schools have a half day, it was a perfect place for us. I would absolutely come here without kids too, so I am not saying it is a kiddie pizza place. My pizza was a little disappointing....it was limp. Nobody loves a limp pizza! Is anything good limp? I don't know. I think it was the fresh tomato. It was the only soggy pizza of the five we ordered, so I still give it four stars and will remember no tomato for next time. Blood orange lemonade=super yum and same charge as pop. It felt like we had our own personal party room with the glass walled room that nobody else dared to enter. They behave I swear! A worker came and asked us how everything was and if we needed refills=A+ for unexpected service. Back entrance right off the parking lot, convenient in the rain or for carryout. I wish they offered whole wheat crust and goat cheese.
(4)Alex Z.
Fresh unlimited toppings for under eight dollars! Good quality for a low price. They have a variety of sauces and cheeses as well. Blaze is a good place to get a quick, unique eat.
(4)Ryan B.
Great pizza. They have a wide variety of toppings. The meats look pretty processed like with most pizza places. I don't feel weighed down after eating a lot here. The staff is friendly. They were understaffed on News Years eve. I don't know how normal weekend evenings are.
(4)Pasha A.
Ill be honest i wrote a review just s#$!ing on this place a few months ago when they first opened. But I am a new Gluten Free ahole so I wanted to give the gluten free pizza a go. Also they sent a free buy1get1 coupon. 1. The service went from stepford wife over enthusiastic to typical less then mediocre royal oak fare. But Im good with that if the food is good. You have to expect bad service when living in michigan. 2. We had 1 Gluten free pizza loaded with veggies w/ Goat cheese and the other the same only with vegan cheese instead. The toppings were surprisingly good and fresh. The Goat cheese tasted a lil too aged but the vegan cheese was tasty. Btw please train your employees whats in the vegan cheese and gluten bread, people who buy it generally want to know. When its that packed Im not going to slow up the backed up assembly line while they go look it up in the back. This was my first gluten free pizza so i cant really compare it yet but I thought it was delicious. Although it did not hold up well the next day because the crust was so thin. Get some delivery... But Ill definitely be back. Good job.
(4)Tricey L.
After a late night of drinking we originally decided to go to Leo's Coney Island. That was an epic fail since I refused to wait in the long line at 2:30am for a seat. We decided to try the Blaze although I was skeptical since I don't really do pizza because of acid reflux. I was very surprised with the fast moving line and the option to create your own pizza. I tried the white cheese sauce and loads of toppings and was very satisfied. My pizza was very fresh and tasty and the workers were all pleasant! I would definitely go here again and look forward to telling more people about the $7.00 build your own unlimited pizza.
(5)Ellen Z.
Sub-par gluten free pizza for a reasonable price. Either the sauce is bland, or they're able to keep that reasonable price by not giving you much of it... Salads were of cafeteria quality, ingredients do not taste particularly fresh. Semi-convenient online ordering and payment, and yet they waited until I had arrived to "fire'd" the pizza, resulting in a finish time ten minutes after I requested, on the online order. Staff is friendly, albeit clearly dispassionate about the product. I'll stick to Hippies!!
(2)Lisa S.
We live in downtown Royal Oak and it was our first time here and loved it. The prices were great! My Son had the 1 topping pizza for $5.95 and My Husband and I built our own with unlimited toppings for $6.95. They were good size pizza's. 6 slices each and very yummy. I don't really enjoy pizza, but loved this one. Thin crust was delish. We will definitely be back. Service with a smile and very helpful explaining things
(5)Caroline S.
Not only is the food experience here amazing, my sister and I experienced professional, kind, courteous, and considerate service here from Van, which is what prompted me to write this review. Not only does he go out of his way to treat each customer individually with respect, and bright smile as well as sense if humor, he does so with thought towards the little things. An example of this is his effort to take care to spell my sister's name correctly for her order, which many servers will not even bother to attempt to do. It was a refreshing and welcomed change of pace. Really, the spelling is not as valued as how it demonstrated his sense of attention and consideration towards his customers. I watched Van treat others in his line at Blaze with the same attitude of cheeriness and professionalism. We definitely would return, not just for the food but for the overall experience of a food that is fun and customizable with a staff that make ordering and eating it a pleasant & comfortable experience. I know for my sister, after friends from the tea house brought us here, Blaze has now frequently replaced our usual post-Open-Mic/Tea late night Coney runs. The fair pricing definitely seals the deal. Blaze is a great change of pace for Downtown RO. Thanks again, Van!
(5)Harris N.
Nice new concept imported from LA. Build your own pizza. The crust is thin and chewy and the sauce has good taste. The process is easy. You choose your crust, your toppings, and they cook it fast!
(4)Ada P.
The service here cannot be beat! The staff are so welcoming and the Pizza is delicious!!! I don't know which was better the staff or food! The blood orange lemonaide was heavenly!!!!
(5)Marisa P.
We had a great meal here today! I really like that you can build your own pizza for a flat rate, not charged by the topping. Makes it fun to try different toppings. This place is quick, kid friendly, great people watching along Main St, quick walk to the Theatres, friendly staff, great prices. We all loved our pizzas - they tasted great. Nice to be able to watch someone assemble it so you can ask for light sauce, extra this extra that, etc. Our salads were good too; they are not made to order, but tasted fresh. Dressings were good and tasted homemade. I love the whole "fast casual" concept, so this is the place for me. We will be back.
(5)Maraj P.
Almost every time I have been to Blaze pizza I have had a wonderful and happy experience. One thing I can and WILL say is that the pizza and mini smore pizzas are always delicious. Based on that fact alone plus the previous service my last two visits I would have given this restaurant 5 stars...... then my last (AND FINAL) visit changed my opinion and due to that terrible experience 4 months ago I have to take away 2 or 3 stars. I wanted to bring my boyfriend here for his first time since we are both foodies and around 9:25pm we walked in to place our order (mind you they don't close until 11pm). The employees working who seemed to have seniority (plus I've seen them there since they opened their doors) pretended not to see us while continuing their conversations, looked right at us and then right past us. 10 minutes later and a now frustrated boyfriend, we called out to them asking for someone to take our order. It then took another 15 due to each person not wanting to take our order and passing it along to the next employee they saw. After being passed on by 4 employees, the 5th employee who seemed like he just started, was asked to help us. He was mid - trash duty ( although it seemed no one wanted to do any of their jobs as he seemed to be doing every other chore as well) and after finishing such he turned to help us. Mind you.... my guy & I have worked in the food industry before and he specializes in food inspection so when the hardworking guy from Blaze turned to us without having washed his hands or wearing any gloves, needless to say we were pretty freaked out. I felt bad asking him for anything else as I saw how he was being told to do everyone else's job but I kindly asked if he wouldn't mind washing his hands and regloving. He did and we then ordered. He rang us up but by then my guy had lost his appetite due to poor service and then the sanitary issue. On top of that we watched as they ignored yet another guy first making him think they were closed (but they had not at all) then making him wait another 30 mins before serving him. Sadly we left there unsatisfied and not full since we both were wary of our pizza. It pains me to say that due to the night shift folks we will no longer come to this Blaze unless we hear of a change and we will just get our fill whenever we're in Novi or elsewhere. I remember there being a much better staff & a manager who seemed to really be a people person/took care of things there around dinner time months prior. Whatever changed.. I hope they fix whether it be through cameras or new night shift. Signed, Disappointed
(2)Jen J.
Great casual pizza stop for quick and delicious pizza. Great for kids, and if you don't like the topping suggestions they provide (which have proven to be well thought out & tasty) you can build your own.
(4)Zach S.
Good service and excellent food!! The pizza options are awesome. Lots of fresh veggies and the lemonade is so super good!
(4)Julie G.
I'm a big fan of this pizza. So why the 3 stars? I work in Novi so that location is the one that I frequent with my co-workers and it is excellent (a definite 4 star experience). I live near this location so we decided to give a try for the first time on their "Pi" day at $3.14 per person. I expected the location to be extremely busy so we went in the late afternoon (3 ish) and it was busy but not overflowing with people...no lines out the door as I had expected. I can't help compare this location to my regular Novi location. The people here are not as friendly...they were either barking/yelling at customers or talking so low that I had to keep repeating myself. I felt horrible for the person getting the gluten pizza either before or after me because that crust looked bad and the girl kept trying to pass it through to the sauce I'm thinking to cover up how bad the dough looked. Luckily I don't do the gluten free. Anyway, they were very skimpy with the toppings, barely made eye contact or smiled and continued to take phone orders while dealing with customers right in front of them. There were just way too many people behind the line doing what seemed like playing with each other. Joking around, throwing things at each other and knocking things into each other on purpose. Like worker ants with nothing to do. That's a huge difference from the Novi location--they can have fun without ignoring their customers and being pleasant to boot. Watching the guys handle the oven was like watching the three stooges--they were joking and ignoring the pizza. Several of the pizzas came out with charred edges. I don't mind charred edges but the Novi location will trim them off or even offer to make a new pizza. The middle was soggy. Disappointing. The cook at the Novi location told me that it's because they need minding and turning inside the oven. Oh well. $20 for 3 pizzas and a salad wasn't a total waste. I'll stick to Novi.
(3)Karen N.
Great pizza and value. Love it here although The staff needs to learn you should cover the whole pizza with cheese when prepping it. They didn't have this problem when they first opened.
(4)Zach S.
Always fun Good price Italian style pizza your way Don't miss the s'more Beet salad is totally under-rated Gluten free is better than regular crust but it burns easily. Do not forget the extra toppings at the end. Arugula is a nice touch.
(4)Jessica S.
love the gluten free crust and vegan cheese!! thank you for offering it!
(5)Dick E.
This place is decent. Most of the reviews are probably people who head over here after the bar....that makes it taste THAT much better lol. It's better than the chain places but I am not a fan of it overall.

It's good. But it's fast food pizza. They get skimpy on the ingredients so make sure you pay attention. I'll go back, but I'm not rushing back.

Personal pizzas made on the spot--loads of toppings choices. Good for vegetarians. Today's combo: spicy red sauce w/ artichokes, green & black olives, roasted garlic. Mmmm. Warms the mouth.

Had our first experience at Blaze yesterday and it thought it was great. We arrived just before 6pm and there was still plenty of seating available inside, and by the time our food was ready, we were able to snag a table outside. Enjoyed creating my own pizza for only ~$7.50. Our kids split and enjoyed the plain cheese pizza for $5, cheaper than a kids meal at most restaurants. My spouse appreciated they offer vegan cheese for a nominal charge. The blood orange lemonade is addictive and absolutely delicious. Such a reasonable place to grab a meal for a family with little kids. Only so-so observation is that they should have had an additional cashier. The food line moves quickly and the cashier would put the pizzas in the oven, but then there would be a big backlog of people waiting to pay because he had to put several pizzas in and out. However, we did notice and appreciate there was someone on staff the entire time while we were eating spraying and wiping down tables, and cleaning up quickly after each patron table would clear. We will definitely be back, thought it was delicious and very reasonably priced.

You shouldn't be using a cell phone while preparing food. Pizza oven fool was playing with his phone while my pizza was cooking, takes it out, and touches my pizza after he touches his phone. Would you serve that to your grandma? Some people shouldn't be allowed to prepare other peoples food. The management needs to be careful who the hire and train. I wanna like this place cause its fast, good, convenient, but when you got people working there that do not care about other peoples food while handling it, it pisses me off and should not be tolerated! Hell does the management even bother reading these reviews and make changes right away!?!?!?

For about $7 with unlimited toppings, I'm pleasantly surprised at how good it tastes! As others have written, it's a good size for a quick lunch or dinner, and the ingredients are of high quality. All put together, I liked that it wasn't greasy, and each of the ingredients stood out. The thin crust has a nice chewiness to it, and the red sauce is just slightly on the spicy side. It's fast food, so it's not a place to go if you're looking for ambiance. Having said that, it was very clean, orderly, and the folks behind the counter were quite friendly. The only minor downside was the time to prepare. I ordered online, and it was ready about 15 minutes later than quoted. Standing there waiting, I could see the care they put in to making sure it was fired properly, and so I didn't mind the short wait. I'll definitely be going back... good flavors at a nice price.

First impressions are everything & Blaze made a good one. It's their first day opened so I expected things to be a bit hectic. In fact, everyone there was super friendly and took their time to engage us as customers. It will be interesting to see if they can keep their sunny dispositions in busier days and weeks ahead but they were impressively pleasant. As for the pizza, you can do either their signature za or build your own. We went for build your own and got a pie with red sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms, pepperoni & banana peppers. The pizza style is thin crust & one pie gives you about 8 small slices. It's perfect size to split. I also got a side salad with fresh mozzarella, arugula & tomatoes with balsamic dressing. Everything was very fresh and delicious. The ambiance is of the place casual but stylish & perfect for the quick sit down or take out lunch crowd. They also had s'mores at check out (we didn't try them but they looked amazing) & told us that you can order online before you come and they have it ready to pop in the oven when you get there (it takes 3 minutes to fire in the super hot oven, they told us.) A welcomed addition to Royal Oak & to my work lunch options! Welcome to the neighborhood, Blaze. Keep that Ring o' Fire burning. ;-)

It's hard to believe that a chain pizza restaurant could merit a four-star review, but this place is special. Regardless of how many or which toppings you get, a make-your-own pizza costs the same. When I heard that, I expected a mediocre pie. Can't tell you how wrong I was. The ingredients, selection and quality are all top-notch. The pizza is just the right size (and I have a very healthy appetite). Went with a buddy, and we were both blown away. Solid operation and I'll be frequenting it more for sure.

Really good food at a really good price. The service wasn't good at all! Very rude, next time I'll just order online. Rather not be treated rudely.

Really like this place. I appreciate that they are always open late-even on Sundays! Pizza is very good, not the best I've ever had but very good. Prices are reasonable, nothing not to like. Gotta love free unlimited toppings too!

If you looking for thin crust without jeopardizing taste, then Blaze pizza is the place to go. By far best thin crust pizza in town. Lots of topping to chose from and the price is so affordable you can eat here everyday. The staff is wonderful, super friendly and the restaurant is squeaky clean.

I wasn't that impressed by the thin crust they have at Blaze. The price wasn't that competitive but you also have to factor the location downtown into that as well. With the amount of pizza places around they will have to fight hard for my business and I can go elsewhere with free parking.

This was my first time eating here. The pizza is really good. But the service was terrible. Here's why. As soon as we walk in, we walk up to the front and as we were putting in our pizza order, one of the staff members decided to play basketball with the metal table numbers, one after the next throwing them into a metal container next to the counter. So in mid sentence you hear huge clashes next to us and she just starts laughing, totally interrupting the person taking my order. I was annoyed and probably showed it by the way I looked at this cute little interchange. Then the basketball gal, named L'oreal, decides I'm funny and proceeds to talk about me as I'm standing there to the woman taking my order. She probably though her slang made her inaudible. Not so.. They both laugh of course. There was no speed to their service. I was however pleased to see that they wore gloves. I was less than pleased that while wearing those gloves, she handled the register, taking my money, and making the next guy's pizza in the same gloves... The three gals really acted like they could care less about what they were doing. And it was more of a zoo than a restaurant. We stood at the front for about 15 minutes before our pizza was ready giving plenty of time to watch them serve burned pizza to the guy beforehand, their long fingernails hang in all the sauces and toppings, while her butt crack was hanging out of her pants. Again pizza was good. Not sure why I ate it after that experience but gave it a shot. Will likely go elsewhere that serves the same pizza in royal oak just down the street. Pizza biga and Crispelli have great pizza AND good friendly, hygienic service.

Absolutely awesome! Especially for those needing Gluten Free! All the toppings you want...great taste, fresh... Wow.

Came here this past Tuesday as my husband was having his short film being screened at the theater across the street, and was pleasantly surprised as to how good the pizza was. Pretty cool concept. Think Chipotle but pizza- you are the maestro to deliciousness. You start with the dough, they ask what sauce you want, cheese, and fresh toppings. I think my favorite part about this place is that they don't charge you for each topping that you add- you could literally get every topping that they have and it would be $6.95... probably wouldn't taste that great, but to each their own. I will say that the crust is thin- so take that into consideration before you go buck wild with the toppings. No one likes a soggy pizza. We also got their fresh blood orange lemonade to drink- SO good! All in all, a solid place to grab a quick, cheap, and quality bite to eat. I will totally be coming back here for lunch as my office is only a few miles away.

I loved this place. The concept is great - the pizzas are all on the smaller size (around 6 pieces) of thin crust, and you just sorta built your own going down an assembly line (well ok, they do it for you like you would see at Subway) and then it's fire roasted at the end. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes. Each pizza is around $7 for a deluxe, super yummy pizza. And the staff is SO FRIENDLY! Keep up the good work, I think this place is going to do really well.
(5)Simran B.
It is the best place pizza place I have been to. Their spice red sauce is just amazing. Love the fact that you can put whatever you want on it for just $7.

Cool spin on ZA, cool price point, could eat two though. Cheers!
(5)Jennifer E.
Super surprised that the pizza was so good! I made my own: pepperoni, bacon, onion, mushrooms with pizza sauce and mozzarella! Soooo yummy! With that and a drink I walked away with a delicious meal @ under $10!
(5)Melissa K.
There are few pizza places that are addicting to me. But i can say blaze pizza is addicting! There fast and I like the fact you can build your own and it doesn't cost extra to add toppings. It's awesome pizza and perfect size for one person.

First time visit and sadly last time because I was just visiting. GREAT place, never been to a pizza joint like this. Its like cold stone creamery ice cream for pizza. You can make your own pizza and choose own toppings or choose their signature pizzas. They put all the sauce, cheese and toppings right in front of you and put it in the fire oven. Down in less than 10 minutes. Fast for pizza. I ordered the signature BBQ chicken pizza and made my town pineapple pizza. Thin slice, both tasted great. I think they said it was an 11inch pizza. Great price, very affordable. I recommend to anyone visiting or living in the area. Wish I could go back.

Love the options for pizza. I can make it exactly the way I want it. The crust is not the best but sure it has to be that way to cook quickly.

Went to Blaze for my first time today. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the pizza and the service. The staff was friendly. The pizza was very good. I liked the variety of ingredients. I liked that there were fresh salads to choose from. The price for the pizzas and salads is very very fair. I hope Blaze can maintain a friendly, clean, and reasonably priced choice for a restaurant in Royal Oak. I recommend Blaze. Keep up the good work.

Great pizza with many toppings. The gluten free crust was decent; not the best that I have ever had but not the worst. You can customize your pizza for not very much money and the topping selections are many. Their dinner sized salads just right to share between two people. Will definitely be coming back
(4)William M.
Good service, very friendly and great pizza! It is a nice change in things, especially after all the greasy fatty pizzas out there. This place is the subway of pizzas. You can build your own or get a signature pizza and more. I would definitely try this pizza!
(4)Ray B.
Product comes at you fast and full of flavor; appreciate the opportunity to customize your pie. My issue was with the attitude of some of the employees. When you order, they ask for your name; after repeating my name twice, I spelled it (all three letters). The response of the employee was full attitude, in my face for being so rude. Frankly everybody else was pleasant, so I am not certain if she was trying to be funny or just a bad apple in the bunch.

I was here last Wednesday with Bob Morrissey and his family. For $6.95, it is a great price for a pizza that you will eat in one sitting. If you like thin crust pizza, then you will love Blaze. I go in and out with what I like, between square and round. Deep dish or regular. I would call myself a pizza expert. I enjoyed the pizza here, it was fast and good. I'll be back for sure, when I am in Royal Oak that is.

Pretty darn good pizza! It's a crispy light thin crust so don't expect thick Detroit Style pizza here. They have 6 signature pizza's and then of course you can create your own. I opted for the simple Margherita style pizza. Fresh mozzarella, tomato, & fresh basil. I also picked up a side beet & goat cheese salad. Salad was tasty, dressing very good, just didn't like seeing that they had changed the date on the label from "23" to "25" to extend the shelf life of the salad. I found a few pieces of lettuce that were turning which wasn't a deal breaker for me, but I probably won't order a salad again knowing they play that game. Once the pizza is put in the oven, it's done in a matter of minutes which is pretty cool. I went and picked up my pizza and couldn't help but notice it was a bit watery. Not really sure why, my only guess is that they keep the fresh mozzarella and basil leaves in water. If those ingredients aren't' patted dry before going on the pie, I can see how that would cause it to be watery. I just dabbed it a bit and continued. Has good flavor, enjoyed it very much. Maybe keeping basil in a wet paper towel would reduce that problem. I know fresh basil is not cheap, and turns quickly but that's the best way to extend the life of fresh basil. Wasn't a fan of the 2 male employees constantly on their cell phones texting in between taking orders and cooking pizza's. It's an open kitchen, it's unprofessional, put your damn phone away when you are at work. You won't die from not seeing what was on Facebook in the last 2 minutes.

Quality = Value = Price at this new pizza joint. The pizza is good, not the best I've ever had, just good. Watching your pizza being assembled right before you is nice. They are a tad overly friendly, every employee asked me if I was excited that it was the weekend or some variation of that question. Did their inquiry on my weekend mood bother me? No, just seems a little over scripted. I don't normally discuss my weekend with every restaurant employee I interact with. Again, good value for the money. Excellent place to take kids for a make your own pie.
(3)Dominique S.
Love this place! Pizza toppings are fresh and delcious and you can get as many as you want. The service is always awesome. The only reason I couldn't give 5/5 was due to an experience with one crew member who was a little rude. He gave off a manager vibe so I was even more annoyed.
(4)Tara T.
I wish I could give this place a 4.5 - they deserve the extra half star for having such a friendly staff. Was brought in here for the first time by the $5 coupon we found in our mailbox. It's a clean, spacious restaurant and they build your pizza right in front of you. Again, it really stood out to me how friendly all of the staff were. The pizza was delicious; however, the crust is very thin and I personally like more of a thicker crust. But purely judging it as a thin crust pizza, it was really excellent. Definitely will return.

Overall, this place has great pizza and a very friendly staff. The only problem was we waited for at least 25 minutes in line. The person making the pizzas was extremely slow. But overall, I would recommend it. :-)
